Shipping

How shipping is charged (kg vs CBM)

Understand weight-based and volume-based pricing

Shipping is charged one of two ways, depending on the type and nature of the goods:

  • By weight = total weight (kg) × rate per kg
  • By volume = volume (CBM) × rate per CBM

In general, heavy but compact goods such as metal parts or tools are charged by weight, while light but bulky goods such as plush toys, pillows or furniture are charged by volume. Our team will tell you which method applies to your goods before payment.

The shipping calculator shows both and uses the higher one as the estimate, so it won't understate your actual cost.

Calculating CBM

CBM = width (cm) × length (cm) × height (cm) × boxes ÷ 1,000,000

Example: 4 boxes of 50 × 50 × 50 cm = 0.5 CBM

Try it on the shipping calculator.

Rates by product type

Product type Examples
General goods Clothing, household items, general accessories
FDA / TISI regulated Food, cosmetics, supplements, electrical appliances
Branded goods Items with logos or trademarks

Regulated and branded goods cost more to ship than general goods because they go through more customs checks. Choose the product type in the calculator.
